Preventing and Healing Bith Trauma

We have developed a comprehensive program to help families prevent and heal birth trauma. We start early in pregnancy or preconception with identifying and working with the parents layers of experience. During pregnancy, we teach parents to bond with their baby prenatally, and that their baby is listening and having experiences in the womb. Families who are part of our FamilyCare VA program may receive massage to help the birthing parent feel better and to create space and wellbeing for the baby. We offer childbirth education and support postpartum, helping the parents create a postpartum plan. If the birth was difficult, we create understanding and healing through somatic trauma resolution skills so that the whole family can heal and thrive together. We also offer bodywork for babies and breastfeeding therapy.

Trauma Sensitive Intake

FamilyCare VA seeks to support families starting preconception with a trauma sensitive intake:
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences
  • Benevolent Childhood Experiences
  • Understanding Your Own Birth Experience
  • Maternity Ghosts and Ancestral Strenths
  • Attachment Styles and Corrective Actions

Pregnancy Support

Along with sensitive bodywork and somatic trauma resolution sessions, we would like to teach and support couples to practice:
  • Love Breaks
  • Layers of Support
  • Prenatal Bonding

Healing from Difficult Births

Picture
Having a baby can be a time of joy and transformation, and it can also be stressful.  If your birth does not go as well as you had planned, feelings and thoughts can naturally arise.  Many women who experience overwhelming birth experiences seek resolution through feeling better in their body. Kate is trained in prenatal and perinatal patterns associated from overwhelming birth experiences.  Gentle touch helps reorient the experience to the present time.  Approaches include massage, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and Somatic Experiencing®.
